About Us

About Us

gAyCU (pronounced Gay-C-U) and Friends of gAyCU are groups for Australian Catholic University (ACU) students, staff, community and alumni who welcome and support people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, intersex, queer, same-sex attracted, gender diverse and/or questioning in our community. We also include members from the University of Notre Dame community (gAyCU 'ND Friends).

Whether friend or ally, queer, questioning, curious or same-sex attracted, all are welcome to join.

Vision

By the beginning of Semester 1 2012, gAyCU will have impacted 4000 students, creating a web of welcome and genuine support for student diversity in all its forms at ACU and ND.

Purpose

The groups were set up to decrease the sense of isolation that may be felt by ACU people who are gay, lesbian bisexual, trans, intersex, queer, same-sex attracted, gender diverse and/or questioning and also provide a way for other people to affirm their support of these people in our community

Our Guiding Principles inform all our discussions and activities.

Together we are are a network of people that support dignity and diversity.

"All young people, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, deserve a safe and supportive environment in which to achieve their full potential." - Harvey Milk

ACU is a public university open to all.
